Erwin König, aka Heinz Thorvald (died c. 1942), is a skilled marksman Wehrmacht snipers allegedly murdered by the Red Army's legendary Vasily Zaytsev during the Battle of Stalingrad. König mentioned both in Note Zaytsev's memory of William Craig Sniper and 1973 non-fiction book Enemy at the Gates: The Battle for Stalingrad. The 2001 movie Enemy at the Gates described the fictional account of a sniper duel between Zaytsev and König during the last days of the Battle of Stalingrad ..
2. Carlos Norman Hathcock II
Carlos Norman Hathcock II (20 May 1942-23 February 1999) was a United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant sniper with 93 confirmed kills of service records. Hathcock record and exceptional detail of the missions he undertook made him a legend in the Marine Corps. His fame as a sniper and a dedication to long distance shooting led him to become a major developer of the United States Marine Corps Sniper training program. He has, in recent years, also had the honor to have a rifle named: a variant of the M21 dubbed the Springfield Armory M25 White Feather. Hathcock said in a book written about his career as a sniper: ... 5.Vasily Grigorevich Zaytsev
Vasily Zaytsev Grigorevich was a Soviet sniper during World War II, known mainly for activities between September 10 and December 17, 1942 during the Battle of Stalingrad. He killed 225 soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht and other Axis armies, including 11 enemy snipers.
He is important because it participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. There, the Soviets set up a snipers 'training school' in the factory Metiz, but run by Zaytsev. Zaytsev trained dubbed zaichata, meaning "leverets" (baby hares). Antony Beevor wrote in Stalingrad that this was the beginning of the "sniper movement" in the Army to-62.
